We open at 10 AM and the first 175 people through the doors will receive the Limited Edition Northern Pin Set (this set was much sought after during the Olympics). Stunning Northern Doll Show in Richmond

Until February 28 the Gateway Theatre in Richmond houses a northern gem awaiting discovery. Sewing Our Traditions is an extraordinary collection of handmade dolls crafted by Inuit and First Nations artisans from Northern Canada assembled for an exhibit during the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games.

A Monday of Olympic Proportions

Monday is a jam-packed day of activities, performances – as well as gold and diamonds – at Canada’s Northern House. NWT diamond polisher Jen Pilon will be doing a demonstration this morning. Yukon jeweller and goldsmith Cheryl Rivest is coming to Canada’s Northern House this afternoon to share stories and images from Yukon’s gold mining past and talk about present-day gold mining. Come and learn how to pan for Yukon gold!

Huskies, Gold and Performances for Olympians

On Monday afternoon in the Lower Gallery of Canada’s Northern House, acclaimed Yukon jeweller, Cheryl Rivest, will share history and images from Yukon’s gold mining past as well as share information about present day gold mining. Cheryl will also demonstrate panning techniques and show how gold is transformed into jewellery.

Nunavut’s Big Day in the Olympic City

If you felt the beat of drums reverberating through downtown Vancouver today, it was probably the sound of Inuit drummers and throat singers celebrating Nunavut Day at Canada’s Northern House. Premier Eva Aariak welcomed VANOC CEO John Furlong and hundreds of guests to the House for a day of festivities that included performances, artist demonstrations, public lectures and a fashion show.
